I stopped aBout a year ago but since quarantine I’ve started up again. My set up is an Original Apex 37 Diamond Drop with Original spring trucks (I GREATLY prefer them to standard poly bushing trucks for longboarding), bones reds bearings, and 62mm globe wheels.

I’ve moved on to this period of my life. I just need to go bald, and the transformation will be complete.

Not as much as I used to. Knees get unhappy. But I have a Land Yatchz board that my wife bought me a few years ago... while looking for this picture I learned that it was 5 years ago.
I mostly use it when my kid wants to go for a ride on his scooter.
It’s a 42”. I want to get like a 36” fishtail. Something a bit more maneuverable

I longboarded years ago, but I too have moved on to other wheeled things. The wife and I sometimes take out some bicycles, and I have an Enduro Husky. The best places I ever boarded w ere in BC around Vancouver on vacations, and a couple places on the island. I had/have a drop- through spring- truck board stuck in the back of our shed somewhere. The dumbest place I ever rode was down the hill across Centre Street Bridge in Calgary at night, was a hell of fast ride. But I always found it a lot of work without a lot of pay off with how gravelly the roads and sidewalks around here are. Get some much farther for so much less work with a bicycle. And on top of that I’m pretty lazy in my late thirties now.

The kind in the ocean yeah lol. Not very good at it though. Was hoping quarantine time would be a good chance to practice. But so did every other damn kook. So since we can't have nice things every beach is closed.

Here is my long board:
It doesn’t really do much... I’m thinking I’ll sacrifice it to my scroll saw.

Couple buddies and I threw some trucks on a 8 foot long 2x4 and rode that around. That one should be no problem

The only problem is that I’m terrible at riding skateboards... No balance, lol.

I’ve always wanted to but for 31 out of 35 years I’ve lived in the country where I didn’t have any pavement to learn to r ide a skateboard. I'm pretty decent on 2 wheels due to this though.

I have a Sector 9 I started riding again, but I need new wheels and bearings. Maybe new trucks too.

It’s been a few years but I’ve had many a good ride on my Original p intail. Either an hours long session or just going to grab take out it never got old. Love those trucks.

One of my friends had that exact setup in high school! Love original boards. Also prevents people from borrowing my board. The spring trucks can be very off putting to someone who is used to poly bushings, but incredibly rewarding once you get them down.

Exactly. It would get borrowed for a run down the street and back before it would be returned. I have an old Sector 9 that was the guest board. In my mind, the whole point of a longboard is to get your water fix while stuck on dry land and Original trucks do a good job of liquifying the pavement.

I wanna get new wheels and bearings. Had orangatang stimuluses paired with bones Swiss ceramics on my old apex 34 that got stolen or left in the trunk of someone’s car or something, paired with gull wing sidewinder trucks. I’d love to have that wheel/bearing combo on this board with the diamond drop shape and spring trucks, this thing would scream down hills with that setup.

The amount of flex yet stability they give you at speed is unreal. Unless I’m doing like actual street skating I’ll never go back to poly bushings. I’ve been trying to master a kick flip on the apex but the spring trucks just have way too much play to realistically get the board off the ground, at least with my skill set. I have a rad neon pink globe short board with neon blue and green leopard grip tape for when I wanna get my trick fix/my loaner board.

Sha dawg. I’ve got an old sector nine with a super flexible deck, then a “landyachtz” deck (similar to yours but longer) with the double kingpin “sidewinder” trucks that I pulled off of another Sector 9. Barefoot griptape on the top (great until you need to use your feet to stop). I much prefer the Landyachtz but it requires a lot more commitment to get it to slide.

I had sidewinders on my old apex 34! I loved em up until I discovered spring trucks.

Indeed I do as well. My current board is a 36 " Gold Coast drop-through. Although I admit I don’t ride nearly as often as I used to. About 6 years ago, I was riding one of my boards through downtown when I got hit b y a drunk driver. Fortunately, the damage wasn’t too bad. No broken bones or anything like that. Just some cuts, scrapes, and a big bruise on my noggin. Three or so months later, I moved out of downtown, so I was no longer in easy riding distance to everything I needed.
But I still hop on a board every once in awhile.
Here’s my Gold Coast. Bones Ceramics, with everything else being as it was from the factory.
And here’s most of the rest of the cast of boards I have. They are a 40" Skate One, a 34" Sector Nine bamboo pintail, and a 28" Bahne 80's setup. If I remember correctly, all three boards are running Bones Super Reds bearings and Sector Nine wheels. I’ve had the Skate One since high school (18 years ago). I think only the deck itself is original.
The only one I can think of that isn’t pictured is my Globe penny board. But I hardly ever ride it. It’s crazy fast, but difficult to keep control of with size 13 shoes.

Update: here’s my short board as well. Globe, neon green globe trucks, bones reds, and orangatang skiff wheels (my apex is wearing the original wheels that came with this)

I had spring trucks on a “carveboard” I liked the trucks but Didn’t like the dropped deck or coned wheels. so I traded for the landyachtz. Springs give you a much more linear feel.

Been thinking about jumping back in. My quiver has shrunk but still have a Loaded Bhangra and gen2 Dervish, Longboard Larry Humu, and comet pagan. Had an LBL Bamboo OSD, 2 other dervishes (one stolen, one broken), and a sector 9 rapa nui or something like that. Trucks were typically Paris with venom bushings, O-tang wheels or Big Zigs. I rode a lot years ago in college but don’t really anymore. Got to ride with some Loaded guys and gal, as well as Brian Bishop who was a big time Original sponsored rider. He loved the apex. I could never get into it but he did mind bending things with it.
